Although Stephen King stood onstage with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to promote the introduction of the Kindle 2, the best-selling author has decided not to release his newest book, “Joyland,” in digital format.
“I have no plans for a digital version,” King told the Journal. “In the meantime, let people stir their sticks and go to an actual bookstore rather than a digital one.”
As one can imagine, his announcement has been well-received by bookstores. Perhaps his move is a means of leveling the playing field after he made the opposite decision in 2000 when he released “Riding the Bullet” exclusively as an e-book.
